The earthen storehouse building blends seamlessly into the old streets of Hitachiota. Founded by taking over a sake brewery, Yonebishi Soy Sauce has been producing authentic soy sauce here since 1800 (Kansei 12), adhering to traditional methods. In 1867 , the refined soy sauce "Hinagiku" was exhibited at the Paris World's Fair and awarded a bronze monument. The "Yonebishi" (rice diamond) is a reference to the company's original name, "Komeya," which was originally called "Yoneya." The Yonebishi logo is shaped like rice and also expresses the wishes for a happy "88th birthday."
