Zanpa's Commitment
After the Pacific War, Okinawa was experiencing a shortage of supplies and many people were losing their sight by drinking methylated alcohol. In response, founder Torakichi Higa wanted to provide the people of Okinawa with good quality awamori, and so Higa Shuzo began producing awamori.
The second generation Higa Ken inherited that idea . At the time of the izakaya boom, awamori was still thought of as a drink for men. However, second -generation owner Higa Ken wanted to "make an awamori that women and people who don't like awamori can also enjoy," so after much trial and error, he completed his own original distillation machine, and our current main products, "Zanpa 25 % ( White ) " and "Zanpa 30 % ( Black ) ," were born.
