Zanpa's Commitment
After World War II, in a time of material shortages in Okinawa, when people were continuously losing their eyesight from drinking methyl alcohol, Higa Torakichi, the founder, began making awamori at Higa Shuzo with the desire to "provide good awamori to the people of Okinawa."
His son, Ken Higa, the second-generation owner, inherited that passion. During the izakaya boom, when awamori was strongly perceived as a drink for men, Ken Higa, the second-generation owner, undertook repeated trials and errors with the desire to "create an awamori that women and those who don't like awamori can enjoy."
