Sakai Winery is the oldest winery in Tohoku, founded in 1892.
Around 2007, they switched from conventional farming to pesticide-free grape cultivation in their own vineyards, and they graze about 20 sheep in the fields for weeding.

They produce wine using natural yeasts and microorganisms present in the soil, and adhere to traditional methods such as the non-filtered method, which has been used since their establishment without using a filter, creating wines rooted in the land.
