A refreshing potato shochu brewed with specially made white koji
Eiji Sagara, the ninth generation of the family, had long desired to create a new, flavorful and refreshing potato shochu, so he approached Kawachi Shoten, a long-established koji maker, with the idea.
A special white koji was developed.
This is a sweet potato shochu brewed using this special new koji.
It has a gentle potato aroma and soft flavor with a rich, savory taste, and leaves a clean, crisp aftertaste.
Although the name is a little unusual, it is taken from the Noh play "Akutaro."
This is a kyogen play about a heavy drinker and violent man called "Akutaro" who is reformed through a series of events.
This shochu also has a rough flavor when it is first made, but thanks to the new koji and careful brewing process, the flavor develops into a mellow one over time.
