Asahi 1800ml
[Asahi]
A representative brand that has been named after the brewery since its founding
It is brewed using mineral-rich groundwater and distilled at atmospheric pressure.
It has a gentle, sweet aroma of brown sugar that spreads out faintly, and a wide range of flavors that are soft on the palate and have a subtle sweetness and richness.
It goes down smoothly and has a crisp, refreshing aftertaste.
From Asahi Shuzo's official website
Founded in 1916 , it is the oldest brown sugar shochu brewery in the Amami Islands.
"Asahi," both the company name and the flagship brand name, was chosen because Kikai Island is the easternmost of the Amami Islands, and is the first island to be able to see the morning sun rising from the ocean.
The rising sun also represents a wish for the company's prosperity.
Since then, it has been nurtured locally as Shima no Seya (island sake brewery), and continues to exist to this day.
Our tradition, which is soon to reach 100 years, has refined various techniques and recipes that enhance the flavor of shochu, and we are committed to producing our own shochu using ingredients that are rich in the bounty of the island.
