It is the root of Koshihikari and Sasanishiki, and is the only variety of rice that has not undergone artificial crossing among the rice in circulation.
Because of its tall height, it easily collapses and is susceptible to disease.

While expressing the complex taste of Asahi rice without polishing the rice, it has a gentle sourness and a refreshing aftertaste.
