“ Eiha Purple Sweet Potato ” is a rare sweet potato that is grown in small quantities in Eiwa Town, the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. It has good flesh and is rich in polyphenols and anthocyanins, and is often used for confectionery.

The phantom potato shochu was discontinued in 2016 due to the inability to secure purple sweet potatoes from Tanegashima .
