[Artisan Mariage Vineyards Rouge BA (Barrel Aged) 2024]
Syrah x Cabernet Franc, A Small Story of 574 Bottles
Rouge BA 2024 is a natural wine made from grapes grown in the vineyards of Akeno-cho, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
The producer is Artisan Mariage Vineyards, headed by Kiyotaka Hirose.
The grapes used are 68% Syrah and 32% Cabernet Franc, carefully harvested by hand.
After destemming, some are left whole cluster for about 1 week of carbonic maceration, followed by natural fermentation using wild yeasts.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately one year in old barrels with malolactic fermentation, and then released after bottle aging.
It is a clean and natural style, finished unfiltered, unfined, and with no added sulfites.
When poured into a glass, it has a slightly bright dark cherry red hue.
Aromas of black fruits reminiscent of blueberries and cassis are layered with notes of violet flowers, fresh herbs, and a hint of spice.
The palate is smooth, with gentle tannins and a long, balanced acidity.
The richness of the fruit and a subtle bitterness create a pleasant finish, resulting in a taste that combines lightness and depth.
